It is a brand with a long history that began in Chatsworth, California, USA in 1973. The founder, Jim Thompson, built his career in the early days of outdoor gear development and manufacturing, and after returning from a world tour, he and his brother Greg began manufacturing outdoor equipment.

The product was named "WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE" because development was based on Greg's experiences.
